Prices at the upper Bollinger band are considered high and prices at the lower Bollinger band are considered low. However, just because prices have hit the upper Bollinger does not necessarily mean that it is a good time to sell. Therefore, just buying at the lower band and selling at the upper band is out of the question. By definition, price makes new highs in an uptrend and new lows in a downtrend, which means that they will naturally be hitting the bands. With this information in mind, our filter will require that buy signals occur only if the candle following the one that hits the Lower Bollinger band does not make a new low (white candle) and sell signals occur only if the candle following the one that hits the Higher Bollinger band does not make a new high (black candle). This type of candle is commonly known as an inside day. The best time frames to look for the inside days are daily charts, but this strategy can also be used on hourly, weekly and monthly charts. Combining inside days with Bollinger bands increases the likelihood that we are only picking a top or bottom after prices have hit extreme levels. As a rule of thumb, the longer the time frame, the rarer the trade will be, but the signal will also be more significant.

For Buy

1. Look for the currency pair to hit or come very close to hitting the lower Bollinger.

2. Wait for next candle and make sure that the next candles low is greater than or equal to the previous candles low and that the high is also less than or equal to the previous periods high. Basically it should be within the previous candle high and low. Also make sure the candle is while candle. If so, go long at the open of the third candle.

3. The initial stop is placed a few pips below the previous candles low.

4. Trail stop on a closing basis with the 20-period SMA.

For Sell

1. Look for the currency pair to hit or come very close to hitting the upper Bollinger.

2. Wait for next candle and make sure that the next candles high is less than or equal to the previous candles high and that the low is also greater than or equal to the previous periods low. Basically it should be within the previous candle high and low. Also make sure the candle is while candle . If so, go short at the open of the third candle.

3. The initial stop is placed a few pips above the previous candles high.

4. Trail stop on a closing basis with the 20-period SMA.

The other way to protect open equity profit is to take profits when a predetermined price level or profit threshold has been reached. There are many ways to calculate such profit target thresholds. Profit target orders are set with price or better or price limit orders.

Definition: A profit target is an unconditional exit of a trade with a locked-in profit at some predetermined price or profit level. The incorporation of a profit target into a trading system is a more proactive and aggressive method of profit management. The most positive aspect of a profit target is that once the desired profit is realized, it is captured immediately. It therefore cannot be lost like it can be with a trailing stop. The negative aspect occurs when a profit is taken and the market continues to move well beyond this target level. These potential additional gains are lost because our profit target has closed out the position.

There are trade-offs with the use of profit targets. Some traders cannot live without them just as some cannot live with them. Trading systems that use profit targets, in contrast to those that do not, can be less profitable overall but can produce a higher percentage of winning trades and a smoother equity curve. Sometimes profit targets reduce per trade, and total risk and overall performance can be more stable.

Not all systems are improved by th euse of profit targets.Whether profit targets are beneficial or not very much depends on the style and pace of the trading strategy. In general, active, countertrend trading strategies that trade from overbought and oversold conditions benefit the most from profit target orders. Conversely, slower, trend-following trading strategies generally benefit the least from profit targets.

Inspired by my favourite blogger who blogged about 10 things he wouldnt do if he won the USD 900 million powerball draw on 19th January 2016 in US, i decided to do up a list of 5 things i would not do should i win Singapores yearly Chinese New Year grand TOTO draw. This year,
the amount up for grab is SGD 12 million! 

Here are 5 things i would NOT do if i win the TOTO!

1. Not hire a fund or financial manager to manage my money for investments and savings. (I have never handled so much money and too many reports showing how people blow up their winnings within months.)
2. Tell everyone and announce to the whole world. Its good to share the joy but i would also be inviting trouble if kidnappers come along or strangers making friends with me. In time to come, people might know but thats about it. If you know, you know. 
3. Spend it on luxury cars or property. Maybe just a normal car for transport and pay up the mortgage plus some small gifts for parents, family and close friends.  
4. Spend any money until after say 6 months or so. Impulsive buying is always wrong and waiting lets the hype die down on me. 
5. Forget less fortunate people in the society. Deeply touched by what Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook did upon delivery of his child. Giving away most of his facebook shares worth over USD 900 million to charity. Thats unbelievable!   

As i was thinking about all that money, i decided to look around the internet and see what are the most expensive or most common things that Singaporean do or buy with money on their hands.

The interest rates for the money we put in our banks here have always been low. And they are consistently in the region of 0.01 to 0.05 percent per annum. 

An interest rate war recently started between DBS and OCBC offering higher rates than the rest. 

DBS offered the Multiplier scheme which enable you to earn a maximum of 2.08% more on your savings. However, to fully benefit from this scheme, you would require to credit a salary of SGD15k which is a tall order for many people.

The OCBC 360 account is probably a better option looking at the following criterias;

3 criterias to be met in order to earn that 3.05% interest. 

1) Credit your salary into this account every month. (min SGD 2,000)

2) Spend $400 every month on your OCBC credit card

3) Pay 3 bills from this account every month 

The first and third condition is fairly simple as crediting of salary just requires a one-off arrangement and bill payments, oh i have lots of bills, therefore 3 bills is no problem.  However, to spend $400 using of credit card might require some carefully planning as not every one my purchases are feasible to use credit card. But the best part of this is that by simply fulfilling any of the criteria, i would already earn 1.05% which is higher than most banks and as interest earned are credited every month, i can earn the interest next month if i do not fulfill its criteria this month. 

 OCBC 360 is definitely the way to go!

3 x 21

Conditions required:
1) Moving average 3
2) Moving average 21
3) H1, H4 and D1 charts

As the name suggest, this strategy has something to do with 3 and 21. And the reason being
to set 2 moving average lines as 3(blue line) and 21 (green line). These 2 lines will follow the trend of the market and moves up and down with the market.

Once they cross each other, it gives us the signal to start firing!
As shown in the chart above, the blue line (3) crosses the green line (21) indicating a possible down trend coming. But we cannot confirm that this is actually happening until we see the next bar in the next hour, therefore we need to wait for the confirm bar to come out before firing our trade as there is always a chance that it may go against our direction. Though you may by all means fire if you are confident. :)

Another example is show on the right of the chart indicating an up trend. Are you able to spot without any explanation?

However, to be certain of the trend, you will need to look at the H4 and D1 charts. Generally if the trend is going our way, we can take a 20 to 30 pip profit.

If at this point, you are still unsure of the 3 line and 21 line thingy, no worries. Let me put it this way, imagine a person carrying a 3 kg load versus 21 kg. It is definitely easier to lift up the 3 kg than 21 kg load, therefore indicating up trend when 3 is higher than 21.

On the reverse, it is more difficult to carry 21 kg load over a 3 kg, therefore indicating a down trend.

More examples below. Can you spot the up trends and down trends? The crossovers and confirm?
